eCommerce Web Design for California-based Garden Supply Company

Armstrong Garden Centers has been serving California for 130 years and is dedicated to taking the guesswork out of gardening. As an employee-owned company, they offer 29 retail garden centers filled with a vast assortment of quality plants and garden-related products tailored to CA's unique climate. Their passionate associates provide expert advice and personalized assistance, ensuring every gardener has success.

Project Objectives

For this eCommerce website redesign, our main goals included:

• Enhancing user experience by moving to a cleaner, more user-friendly platform
• Maintaining the same look and feel as the previous site while updating to a more streamlined design
• Integrating apps/systems for improved search and inventory management
• Ensuring the site aligns with the root site for consistent branding and aesthetics

Website Design

For the design of this eCommerce website, our design team focused on maintaining the existing aesthetic while introducing a cleaner, more user-friendly interface. We ensured that the colors and branding matched the previous site and the root domain, armstronggardens.com, to provide a consistent visual experience. To note, we did not complete the root domain for this site - just the site on the "shop" domain. Our goal was to create a design that felt fresh and modern, yet familiar to returning customers, emphasizing ease of navigation and an inviting, clean layout that showcases their gardening expertise.

Website Build

This website was developed on Shopify, an eCommerce content management system chosen for its superior user experience and robust capabilities. Shopify allowed us to integrate advanced search and filtering through Search Spring, enhancing the customer's ability to find specific plants and gardening supplies effortlessly. We also implemented Modern Retail for seamless order and inventory management across their brick-and-mortar locations. By transitioning to Shopify, we provided Armstrong Garden Centers with a flexible, scalable platform that supports local pickup and delivery, aligning perfectly with their operational needs and enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
