Project Description

Nonprofit Website Design and Development for Washington State Brain Injury Organization

The Brain Injury Alliance of Washington—or BIAWA—is a nonprofit organization that’s been supporting individuals in Washington State affected by brain injury since 1982 by providing them with resources and guidance as well as classes, support groups, referral services, and more. Dedicated to their community, BIAWA takes pride in helping guide people through the highs and lows of brain injury.

Website Design and Development Achievements

Highlights of this design and development effort include the following:

  • A well-structured homepage with fun iconography, a user-controllable masthead slider, and large, flexible content spaces
  • A bold color palette that employs branded purple as a sectional background color and pops of aquamarine and lime green for accent items
  • A clean and simple site flow anchored by a main navigation menu featuring drop-down items with smartly styled hover effects
  • Adjustable font sizes so all pages are accessible to all users, even those with limited sight
  • The option to swap out the primary language across the site (powered by Google) and an embedded calendar of events (powered by Trumba)

For this project, we built a number of fully custom, mobile-friendly templates, including—but not limited to—the following:

  • An about page template rich with calls to action and that can house a variety of content
  • A catalog-style service listing template with left-hand navigation menus for easy access to other pages in that area
  • Custom contact forms that can pull into any page on the website
  • Blog overview and post pages; links to featured posts can easily be pulled into other pages across the website, improving user flow and decreasing bounce
