New web design is set to build awareness for environmental education
Like all web design firms, Efelle Media has to be selective with the charities and non-profit organizations that it aids, but when approached by John Schmied of Friends of the Hidden River, the project ended up being a great fit. The project – a multi-million dollar Community Environmental Education Center to help teach balancing the needs of our environment with the wants of people – is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in the Puget Sound. “We really need a better vehicle to promote the project. We’ve received large amounts of money by way of grants and private donations to make all that we have done so far possible, but we still have a long way to go” said Schmied.
The 114 acre Brightwater Environment Education and Community Center was the Friends of the Hidden River’s answer to King County’s development of the Brightwater Wastewater Treatment Facility. “There is no way to get around the need for the Brightwater Wastewater Treatment Facility.” Said Schmied when asked about the groups drive behind the project “ The surrounding area has just grown too rapidly not to have measures in place, but what we can do is through an investment in environmental conservation education is help people, especially youth, become more aware of their effect on the environment. “
Partnering with Efelle Media for Web Design
The needs of the Friends of the Hidden River group were very simple; a website that would allow for online donations, the ability for staff and volunteers to change and create content without extensive training, and most importantly exposure through organic search engine optimization. When evaluating the projects needs and merits Efelle Media Founder and CEO felt it was the right project to get involved with despite the Non-Profits limited budget. “Obviously we can’t stay in business giving away our product, but the amount of capital that they were willing to raise and their overall commitment to the project is inspiring – and as a local company we always want support groups that are aggressive vehicles for change”.
