Second fun fact: Kara Tokita and Brad Bethune are long-time clients of ours; we teamed up for the design and development of their first website way back in 2009. We recently reached out to them about a redesign, having noticed that most of their big competitors were sporting outdated websites—the timing for a redesign was perfect.

Website Design and Development Successes

Goals for the redesign included making the site mobile responsive and beautiful across all devices. Creating mobile-responsive websites is our default process at efelle; for Tokita Bethune we achieved this objective by creating stackable content blocks, incorporating bold, high-contrast, and large font choices, and building a horizontal navigation menu that collapses into a hamburger menu on smaller screen sizes. We also optimized imagery to ensure a fast page load no matter the device—this task is critical for any website that features large imagery across its pages.

Speaking of imagery, one of our second goals was to fill as much screen real estate as possible with high-res imagery showcasing Tokita Bethune’s awesome events. We included event photos as backgrounds for mastheads and call-to-action blocks, and also created a responsive grid on the homepage that shows off photos of varying orientations—it can accommodate both portrait-style imagery as well as landscape.

Finally, a third objective for the Tokita Bethune team ws for the redesign to highlight all the clients their team has worked with over the years; this was an especially important goal as their client numbers have more than doubled since the launch of their initial site. For the new site, our team designed and developed out a special, custom section dedicated to “Featured Clients” where users can view current and previous client logos and filter them by both industry and location.
